Criminal William Harper

COLUMBIA, MISSOURI - A Columbia man who pistol whipped a Boone County resident was himself shot in the arm and later arrested for trespassing, assault, and unlawful use of a weapon.

According to the Boone County Sheriff's Department, deputies responded at about 2:30 Saturday morning to a reported burglary in progress in the 5500 block of Rocky Fork Drive. Upon arrival, they determined that 39 year old William Harper of Columbia had come to the residence looking for someone and was told to leave.

After refusing to leave, deputies say Harper pulled a handgun and struck the victim, at which time the victim grabbed his own gun and shot Harper in the arm.

Harper ran away at that point, but was taken in to custody a short time later. He was treated for his gunshot at a hospital and taken to the Boone County Jail, where he remains on $5,500 bond.
